Adam Wurst is a conductor, educator, and author whose work centers on building expressive, thoughtful, and connected musical communities. He believes a community choir serves as both artistic ensemble and civic anchor—strengthening cultural life while cultivating connection, accountability, and shared purpose among its members. He served as conductor of the Metropolitan Choir of Praise, leading the ensemble during its 60th season and shaping programming that honored tradition while advancing artistic growth and meaningful audience engagement.
In addition to his community leadership, Adam directs choral ensembles in Allendale Public Schools, working daily with more than 230 singers. His ensembles have been recognized for excellence in performance — a reflection of his commitment to purposeful rehearsal design, clear expectations, and shared ownership of the music-making process. He maintains an active private studio for voice and piano in West Michigan and directs The Falcon Bards, a traveling music theater ensemble. Together with his daughter, Emilie, he co-founded a Music Theater Summer Camp focused on developing confident performers through meaningful artistic challenge.
Adam holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Western Michigan University and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University. He is the author of Executive Function Skills for Teens: How to Coach Your Teen Toward Confidence, Independence, and Real-World Success, reflecting his sustained interest in the relationship between cognitive development, leadership, and artistic growth.
