Audition Press Release 7-15-19

The Lakeshore Community Chorus is excited about its upcoming Tenth Anniversary season and would like to invite additional singers to join the group.

Auditions will take place on July 23 and 24.  Please contact Nancy Plantinga at lakeshorecommunitychorus@gmail.com or call (616) 405-3399 if you are interested in auditioning to sing with this dynamic group during this Tenth Anniversary season. Check the website lakeshorecommunitychorus.org for more information about the chorus.

The chorus is under the direction of Nancy Plantinga with accompanist Vivian Boot. Weekly Thursday rehearsals are at Saugatuck High School (6:30-8:30/9:00 pm), begin September 5th, and continue until the final Holiday Concerts on December 7th and 8th.  Most of the singers read music, some do not.  All learn through rehearsals and practice cds. Having a good sense of pitch and willingness to work hard together as a team is required!

The theme for the 10th Annual Holiday Reflections concert is “A Season to Remember.” It will feature chorus members’ favorite choral selections from the last nine years of LCC holiday concerts.  As is its custom, the chorus will be accompanied on several selections by a variety of instrumentalists from Grand Valley State University. Both performances will be held at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts.

The 2020 Spring concert, also at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts, is the official Tenth Anniversary celebration, featuring LCC alumni singers, accompanists and directors, as well as the Saugatuck High School choir. The concert will debut a commissioned work written for the Lakeshore Community Chorus by internationally-recognized composer David Brunner, with lyrics by Linda Nemec Foster, a well-known Grand Rapids poet and co-author of the Michigan Notable book, “The Lake Michigan Mermaid.”

The Lakeshore Community Chorus is in its ninth year of providing great performances of quality choral music to the lakeshore area. The 40-plus members of LCC represent communities from South Haven to Grand Haven, many who have been rehearsing and performing together since the Spring of 2010.
