Nancy Plantinga – Director

DirectorNancy Plantinga is the co-founder and present director of the Lakeshore Community Chorus. Nancy received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana) and her Masters Degree in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. She brings to the podium a wide range of experience. Nancy has served as teacher, conductor, clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States and in Canada. Her middle school bands were consistently awarded honors such as performing at the prestigious Midwest Clinic and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Nancy is retired from working full-time in the public schools, but continues to serve as private teacher and ensemble coach for local middle and high school students. Singing and choral music have always been part of Nancy’s life. She has worked with junior high, high school and college choirs, church choirs, and presently the Lakeshore Community Chorus. She is also an artist, specializing in people and pet portraits, as well as a massage therapist with Natural Harmony Massage in Douglas. Nancy’s passion is helping to create balance and harmony in the lives of her family, friends and community.
